Enhancing Life. Excelling in Care.
A foot orthotic or insole is a custom made medical device that is inserted into a person’s footwear. The purpose is to support the feet in a desirable manner to relieve pain by redistributing the pressure and optimizing feet posture for your overall health. Orthotics for feet work similarly to how glasses work for eyes.
These are different than the over the counter insoles that are available at the local pharmacy and sports equipment store because these are specifically tailored to conform to the unique shape of your feet. The latter are not genuine orthotics and follow a “cookie-cutter” approach. Custom orthotics are made by prescription only and are designed for your foot condition.
Common medical conditions that orthotics are used to treat include plantar fasciitis (“heel/arch” pain), pes planus (“flat feet”), metatarsalgia (pain at the “ball of the foot”), hallux valgus (“bunions”) and Achilles tendinitis. People who experience ankle, knee, hip or back issues may also benefit from orthotics. Orthotics can be used for those of all ages.”
